Like many great ventures, it started with an idea to shake things up. Mikkel Andersen and Sebastian Petersen noticed a gap in the men’s accessories market, where options were usually limited to a few items tucked away at the jeweler’s counter.
Now, 17 years later, Trendhim has transformed the market. With over 10,000 products on their website, more than 100 employees, one million shipments to over 25 countries annually, and a revenue exceeding 250 million DKK, they’ve come a long way.
Trendhim’s significant growth journey began in 2014, when they decided to expand to Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Netherlands. It was during this expansion that Shipmondo entered the picture. In 2015, Trendhim joined the platform and began a solid partnership with Shipmondo, and the rest is a success story.
We’re incredibly happy with our partnership with Shipmondo. Our companies have practically grown together over the years, and they’ve been an invaluable partner through the massive growth we’ve experienced over the last ten years,” says Sebastian Petersen, co-founder and CEO at Trendhim.
Supporting international expansions
As Trendhim has expanded into more countries and grown in existing markets, its needs for support in customs procedures and product compatibility with carriers through Shipmondo have evolved. Shipmondo has been a constant presence, providing valuable insights and expertise along the way.
For instance, Shipmondo introduced Trendhim to bulk shipments - sending one consolidated export shipment from Denmark with individual packages for recipients in another country inside. So instead of sending 1,000 single packages, they send 1 big box with 1,000 packages in it.
These packages are booked with a local carrier in the destination country. This way, bulk shipments make the delivery run smoothly across borders while saving customs costs. However, they require a certain volume of international shipments to make regular large dispatches, ensuring customers receive their packages on time.
It’s been an incredibly constructive partnership. We’ve experienced great service and a willingness to adapt as our needs have changed. Shipmondo has supported our growth and our expansions into new markets. They already have an extensive carrier network in many of the countries we’ve entered and have been quick to respond when we’ve needed to activate new carrier agreements,” explains the co-founder.
Efficient use of resources
With Shipmondo by their side, Trendhim has easily expanded their portfolio of shipping destinations without having to maintain direct integrations with carriers or meet the booking and data requirements for products and label formats themselves. Shipmondo also manages the ever-changing customs documents required for international shipping.
This partnership lightens the workload on Trendhim’s employees, who can instead focus on optimizing other areas of the business. In 2023, for example, they implemented a new sorting robot in their warehouse, enabling them to sort up to 2,000 packages per hour automatically.
Shipmondo API: Stable operations are key
Trendhim has tailored their solution to their needs using Shipmondo’s API. Instead of integrating directly with each carrier’s system, they’ve built their own solution on top of Shipmondo API. This allows them to use their in-house solutions for order management and pick-and-pack processes without having to develop and maintain a complete freight system or send EDI data directly to carriers, adhering to requirements for label formats, freight products and customs protocols.
We experience zero downtime. The solution we have with Shipmondo is super reliable. And if any issues have come up, their customer service team has quickly and professionally found solutions. We know we can work efficiently and seamlessly every day because our freight bookings run smoothly, and our logistics team can easily handle international shipments. Shipmondo’s one of our most important partners because they’re such an integral part of our logistics setup,” says Mathilde Putman, Logistics Specialist at Trendhim.
