A pick list gives you a quick overview of the items you need to pick in your warehouse for an order.
What is a pick list?
A pick list is a document that gives you information about what needs to be picked for a given order, how much needs to be picked for a given order, and possibly the location, if you for example use locations in your warehouse. There is always one pick list per order.
The pick list contains the items ordered by a customer and gives you a clear overview of the items, if there are for example multiple items in the same order. This makes it easy and fast to work in the warehouse, and it helps you get started with the packing process more quickly.
Example of a pick list
A pick list can for example look like this:

The pick list shows information about the order, recipient and delivery method. In the list showing the items, the item location is shown first, followed by a product image. After that comes the item name, the item’s SKU number and then the number of units that need to be picked of that specific item.
In Shipmondo, you have the option to personalize your pick list by adding your own logo in the top right corner. Read more about how you can personalize your pick lists here.
Design your pick list with the document designer
With the Shipmondo Document Designer, you can design your pick lists exactly the way you want. You can move columns around, add and remove information, add a QR code for returns and much more. You can also use our pre-designed templates, which you can see in the example above.
How do you use a pick list?
You use a pick list to create an overview and make your workflows easier for yourself or your warehouse staff. It contains all the information about the specific order that you need, so you can handle an order in the best possible way once it has been placed in your webshop.
It is only possible to use pick lists if you use Shipmondo Order Management. When an order is placed in your webshop, a pick list will automatically be printed, so you are quickly ready to pack the order.
In Shipmondo, you can choose whether you want to print one pick list at a time, bulk print pick lists, or automate the printing when an order comes in. Read more about how you can pick with pick lists here.
When you have picked all items on a pick list, you can complete the order by either manually creating a shipment, creating and printing a shipping label and capturing the payment for the order.
In Shipmondo, you can complete all the mentioned steps with just one scan of the pick list barcode. Learn more about the scanner solution here or watch the video below.

Go to guideThe difference between pick lists and pick path lists
The difference between pick lists and pick path lists is that a pick list is used to pick items for one single order at a time, where the items on the list are shown for the current order. A pick path lists, on the other hand, combines items from several orders into one consolidated picking list. If the items have location codes, the list will be sorted by location, so logistics staff only need to walk through the warehouse once and can pick all items with the same location in the same round.
Where pick lists are a simple solution without path optimization, pick path lists are suitable for businesses that want to optimize their pick and pack process with picking bins, locations and faster handling of multiple orders at once.
